Jack Henry

Jack Henry was an exceptional man, and I have written a very brief account of him, published in Jacobin Magazine Here.

Uncovering history in one’s own neck of the woods is an exciting moment for a writer. Imagination takes flight, and a story hammers to get out. This was what happened to me when I stumbled across Jack in the archives, a historical figure who fired my imagination with the nostalgia one might have for the heroic revolutionary struggles of the past. Even his name is one to capture the imagination, and Jack Henry’s character fuelled the motivation for my forthcoming novel, Shadows in the Cane.
